This citrusy session is a tribute to one of our favorite artists, who always loved to paint his “happy little trees”. A great man that will be cherished for generations to come, he taught us one of the most valuable lessons when it comes to Homebrewing:
“We don’t make mistakes; just hoppy accidents”
We've been told by a well-known brewing personality, “There is no such thing as a 'Session IPA!” Well, we beg to differ, and we are here today to offer you a hoppy beer with all the flavor and aroma of its big brother, but in a quaffable under-4% version.
A unique feature of our session is that it utilizes the technique called hopbursting that is, adding all of the hops late in the boil to provide a huge hop flavor and aroma that can't be beat. Drinkable and lively, this technique gives our Session IPA a fresh hop punch that you can enjoy all day long.
This beer is modeled with the hops flavor from a famous fresh squeezed IPA from the Pacific Northwest, but if you want even more intense orange flavor, use dried sweet orange peel in your version. Start small, adding .5-1.0 ounce of dried sweet orange peel 5 minutes before the end of the boil (no pith- just dried peel!) or steep in a small amount in hot water for 10 minutes, and add to secondary.
