These are pure American Oak Chips. Want to get that oak barrel aged flavor without the barrel? You need this then. The chips were roasted in order for them to obtain a dark toast that provides a more flavorful and bold quality. This is the perfect addition to your beer/wine if you desire more complexity.
3-4 ounces are suggested for a six gallon batch with a minimum addition time of 2 months. The addition process is as simple as boiling the chips in water for approximately 10 minutes, and then draining and placing them in your choice of fermenter before transfer.

The *idea* seems great, since I'm brewing a pseudo-Lambic, and want to put these in my secondary in a glass carboy for a year or so. Hopefully, they will provide the oak barrel flavor I am looking for!
Product is exactly as described, well packaged and I have used in my most recent batch currently underway. The texture and tones were much better than the kit I bought supplied. Looking forward to the taste results!
Beautifully toasted chips, good price, great for adding flavor and complexity to wine. But I also have found it great for turning cheap whiskey into 60$ a bottle whiskey by aging it for a month on the dark oak.
