This Extra Special Bitter is made using Pale, Maris Otter, Biscuit, and Caramel malts along with East Kent Golding hops giving it a great balance. Our recipe has a bit of a hoppier characteristic than you'll normally find with other ordinary or special bitter styles, without the huge hop flavoring you'll find in American pale ales. You'll detect notes of toasty malt flavor, a bit more hop bitterness, and additional characteristics imparted by using a classic English yeast strain, making it very drinkable pint after pint.

"Bitter" is an English term for pale ales. Bitters come in 3 varieties of strength: Ordinary, Special, and Strong. They tend to be a bit more bitter than other pale ales and the term is used to differentiate them from other pale ales with a more subdued hop profile.

So far this has been one of the simplest All-Grain beers I've made. The smell is magnificent, the aroma is outstanding, and the packaging has considerably gotten better in the last year. I've only tasted uncarbonated and going into the secondary, but I can tell that this will be one to remember.
