This beer is a monster! Imperial/Double India Pale Ales are stronger versions of IPA, typically brewed with greater amounts of malt and hops. Exploding with huge hop flavors, and clocking in at nearly 9% ABV, this beer is not for the faint of heart. The stronger malt backbone supports the overload of 3/4 of a pound of hops in this recipe.
This beer is a conveyance vehicle for the avalanche of dank citrusy gloriousness from the hops. With such a high OG, a yeast starter is highly recommended to ensure full attenuation, or please order two packages of yeast.
Since this beer has 12 ounces of hops in it, we provide for 5.5 gallons going into the fermenter so that when the magical hops do suck up some of your precious beer, you still should have 5 finished gallons going into the bottles or keg!
All orders containing Liquid Yeast will be shipped with a complimentary ice pack to ensure safe shipping!
Imperial IPAs are a newer style that has been embraced by hopheads all over the world since it's introduction. They are a 'big' beer that utilizes a complex hop profile, using copious amounts, giving you a strong, hoppy IPA with a high alcohol content. Imperial IPAs are also referred to as "extra" or "double" IPAs.

Awesome recipe. Well balanced, hoppy red ale with lots of bold character. I think it is my favorite of all time.
This turned out to be very delicious. Followed the recipe (except I had to cold crash for almost a week due to some unrelated issues), and the flavor after kegging was very balanced and smooth. Nothing out shined the other, wonderfully tasty. Color is good, but I might like a tad bit more copper? Enjoyable drink for everyone that tried it. Will definitely be making this one again.
