Dunkelweizen means “dark wheat” and is a darker version of the beloved hefeweizen. This beer is a moderately dark, spicy, fruity, malty, refreshing wheat-based ale. Munich malt and wheat malt combine to give the best of both worlds- a rich malty wheat beer with the fruity esters and clove-like phenols that hefeweizen is famous for. Bottles with yeast are traditionally swirled or gently rolled prior to serving.

The Dunkelweizen is an unfiltered wheat beer style from Germany with sweet malty flavor, darker color than it's Hefeweizen sister, and a low bitterness hop profile, which helps with balancing out the beer's sweet malty flavor.
