Based on the three Digiboil models, this one seemed the one to invest in for now and for the future, with production in mind. Double the size equals doubles the output, for roughly 100 dollars more. In my mind its the better value, plus the output temperature has three settings to use in three separate intervals or combined all at once together.

20amp or 30 amp? The spec's say 20A but the plug implies 30A...
Mark Jacobs on Feb 24, 2020
BEST ANSWER: 3500 watts at 220v is 15.9 amps. Depending on your exact voltage at the unit, you could be drawing between 14.5 and 17.5 amps. A 20 amp circuit would have an adequate safety factor.

You will need a recepticle with a 6-30R female socket unless you plan on changing the plug on the cord. But you are supposed to have 30 amps to a 30amp recepticle.

I ended up buying a leviton 5376 surface mount recepticle and a generic NEMA 10-30P plug and used some 3 conductor 10 gauge wire to make myself a 20 foot extension cord that would allow me to use the digiboil in my kitchen with power comming from my dryer recepticle as long as the dryer was not in use.
When will this be back in stock?
Steven Parman on May 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Steven - It is estimated to be back in stock and ready to ship in early June.
In the picture it shows the volume markers only go to 15 gallons? Its listed as 17.1Gallons. Can this actually do a 15 gallon batch with enough head space to allow for the hot break?
Joshua Turner on Jul 6, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I did a double batch (12 gals) and it did just fine, but that's about it.. I would not try a triple batch..
Does this item (Digiboil 65L) come with a false bottom?

BEST ANSWER: No
Does this item (Digiboil 65L) come with a false bottom?
Adrian Wills on Nov 13, 2022
BEST ANSWER: The heating elements are below the actual brewing kettle bottom so that your product is not in direct contact with the element. This allows you to stir your product without damaging the elements and makes it easy to clean.
Can I use it to make rum? If yes, how much rum will make?
javier peluyera on Mar 9, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Yes approximately 3 to 3.5 gals. Im having trouble with the lids sealing. Other than that for sure.
Is there a lid for this kettle to allow for the use of a bubbler and ferment the wort in place?
Robert F on Mar 7, 2023
BEST ANSWER: There is a metal lid for the DigiBoil that has a 2" hole in it for the installation of a tri-clamp clover fitting (for use in distillation). That could be adapted to allow for a fermentation lock.

Easy to use, works great!
I just used it for the first time and it really simplifies the brew day, compared to a propane burner. It also takes up less space. I used it as the HLT and then as the boil kettle. This was for a 5 gal batch, with 10 gal of water when using it as an HTL. Heating to 170 as the HLT and then to a boil for the 6.5 gal of wort was plenty fast enough, though I haven't measured the times with this and with my propane burner. Some have mentioned that the temperature control is not precise. It does vary some during the on-off cycle, and overshoots the set temperature by a few degrees. This happens because when it reaches that it turns off, but the elements are still hot. I don't find this a problem, it's just something to get used to.

I'm wondering if they're going out of production, given that the price keeps dropping. It'd be a shame. Maybe more people want a more complete brewery in one unit. The Digiboil is a lot less expensive, but of course the more complex units have other things built in.

Worked Great!
We used the Digiboil to make a mulled cider beverage for an annual multi-course meal fund raising event, with 200 guests. The unit worked absolutely great! We easily added base material then spice bags. Unit came up to temperature set point quickly and stayed locked in at the proper temperature for hours. Draw-off valve worked great, with no clogs.

Neopprene jacket worked great as well! Helped insulate the unit and prevented any safety concerns if inadvertently touched during the "making" process.

Highly recommended.

Unit was shipped and delivered on time, exactly as estimated/promised!

Very satisfied with first use
Very pleased with my first use to make 15 gallon mash for rum. Took exactly 1 hour to heat 15 gallons 77 to 161 degrees (F). Easy clean up worked well.

Great value..but shows wear and tear
I own two of these and have used them for the past few years. My goal with these was to set up my brewery like 'the electric brewery' but on the cheap with some modifications. I use one digiboil as a HLT and the other as the boil kettle. Below are a few learnings after using them for a few years.

1) You should spend some money to make sure your electrical is correct. The 65L version uses a NEMA 6-30 plug. While you could convert a dryer outlet for this, you need to make sure you have a GFCI breaker in your breaker box. For me, I added a 50amp GFCI and built a modified box (based on theelectricbrewery.com) that allows me to power both digi boils at the same time).

2) Get the Neoprene jackets (AG491). It is the difference from a very gentle rolling boil to a standard boil (note - you won't get a rigorous boil from it)

3) Adding new ports such as a HERMS and whirlpool port works well. I replaced the original values as they have a different thread size and doesn't work with the 1/2 in quick disconnect threads.

4) the switches do not hold up well. They are still functional, but have holes in the rubber and one of the faces have come off (see pics). I assume this is due to the cleaning (only had one boil-over, but occasionally get wort on the outside of the pot with the quick disconnects and pumps. HLT switches have held up better since there is less cleaning needed (only heats water).

Other comments - I use a plate chiller, so removing hop particulates is important. I tried using the hop stopper. Dennis from ihbinfo@ihomebrewsolutions.com was awesome to work with and worked with me to manufacture a custom dip tube, but the port is so low on the digi boils that it just wouldn't drain properly.
Front is plastic and tabs broke off
Clean in the crevices..doesn't hold up.
Center of the port is only 5/8” above the bottom and has a temp probe.

Very simple, reliable appliance
This is the second Digiboil I have purchased as I am creating a 2-vessel brew system with my initial Digiboil boil and mash system. I have been very pleased with the functionality of my initiall unit. definitely an excellent value for the price.

A Good Deal/nice product
I use this for my HLT, it heats to mash in temps in not more time than my propane system. T he big advantage is it's easy to maintain mash water temps. I do a lot of two stage mash temps. I know with "modern" malts you don't have to but I find enjoy the flavor more the malt flavors are smoother.

It's not as heavy duty a my keggles. I wish it had a sight gauge on the side, but I can take care of that easily.

Nice product overall easy to use.
