This mash tun is perfect for brewing 10 gallon batches. It is oversized (holds 11.7 gallons) so you can comfortable do larger grain bills. This cooler is heavy duty and includes a screw down lid for added safety and convenience (no lid popping off!) We also install the bulkhead before shipping so all you have to do in screw on the valve from the front! We use the highest quality components available including:
- 304 Stainless Steel 1/2" ball valve, and cooler bulkhead (Don't settle for brass valves others use!).
- 12" Stainless Steel domed false bottom w/ high temperature hose
- 304 Stainless Steel 1/2" Hose Barb Fitting
- Cooler Brew - a 10 gallon brew cooler with 11.7 gallon capacity!
- Add optional Fly sparge nozzle for only $3.99

The cooler comes with everything dissembled in it. However it does not come with the male to male connector to connect the 1/2 inch barb to the valves threaded shank you can see it in the second picture. I'm a little disappointed I expected to be able to use this out of the box.
Held the temperature well, and the false bottom was a nice upgrade for me (used to use bazooka screen). I should mention that the item I received was not as pictured. Pictured is the yellow industrial version of this cooler, which is typically more expensive than the orange version (sports version, perhaps?). I received the orange version. The internals are not as pictured, either. I can't speak to whether one is better than the other, but pictured is a ss tube with a hose barb, connected to a short length of clear tubing, which connects to the false bottom. The one I received has a ss tube with external threads (be extra careful with it; I sliced my finger assembling the unit), into which a silicone tube inserts, which connects to the false bottom. No hose barb. Again, I can't speak to which one works better, but the items pictured are not what you'll receive (at least, for my order that was the case). Be sure to wash--really well--the false bottom screen, as it comes from the factory with a nasty coating of some sort of petroleum-ish protectant; you don't want that in your mash. It does come off with TSP. As stated at the beginning, the mash tun with false bottom worked very well.
