If you're looking for a crisp, well-balanced, refreshing beer, you've come to the right place my friend! The Bohemian Pilsner found it's way into the hearts of beer lovers when it was first introduced in Bohemia (now in the Czech Republic) in the 1840s. You'll want to use a very soft water, distilled, or reverse osmosis water when brewing this beer. You can also do a decoction mash, but no worries, a single infusion mash will work great as well.

One of the most important things to remember when making a great lager, is to be able to properly maintain fermentation your temperatures. You'll want to ferment in the low 50s before raising the temperature for 48 hours to the 60s, and then lagering your beer (storing cold) for about 4-6 weeks. Keep in mind that lagers require a bit more attention to your temperatures, as well as a bit more time, but the results you'll get in the end make it totally worth the effort! We recommend using a yeast starter when using a liquid lager yeast to get the best results.

All orders containing Liquid Yeast will be shipped with a complimentary ice pack to ensure safe shipping!

Bohemian Pilsner - Extract Recipe Kit Instructions

Style Overview:
In the 1840s, brewers in Bohemia (part of the Czech Republic now), created the Bohemian Pilsner style of beer. With this style, you'll discover a complex, rich malt that really comes together with the use of Czech Saaz hops, which will give it a bit of a floral taste. Color-wise, they fall somewhere between a deep gold to a pale gold, with a medium body mouthfeel, and have great head retention.
