Originating at monasteries in the Middle Ages, trappist ales were brewed by to feed the community, and also to sell to fund church works. They were revived in the mid-1800s and since become a sought-after favorite. Our Belgian dubbel (“double”) has a deep reddish brown color. This moderately strong, complex Belgian ale has low bitterness, a full body, and hints of stone fruits like plum in the flavor and aroma from the dark candi syrup. This all-grain Belgian Dubbel ale recipe is a treat for the senses, and perfect to age and enjoy.
