Belgian Ale Extract Beer Recipe Kits

Belgian Ales can be traced all the way back to the Middle Ages, when monasteries began crafting beers. Most Belgian Ales have a somewhat restrained hop profile, and instead rely more on the flavor produced by the sweeter malts that are used along with more flavorful yeast strains. Belgian yeast strains often produce phenolic, estery and spicy flavors. Esters are know to provide fruity character, often reminiscent of pears, plums, citrus fruits, roses, strawberries, other berries and bananas. Phenolics are typically considered spicy and often impart the characteristics of black pepper or clove.
