Big, bold, and full of flavor.  This rendition of one of the most egotistical beers in America is not for the light-beer lover.  In fact, if you prefer a beer that looks and tastes more like water, we recommend you leave this page immediately.  Your feelings might get hurt just reading about it...

Our Arrogant Bastard clone easily has one of the most complex malt profiles of any of our kits.  The clean bitterness from Magnum hops allows the rich flavors of Aromatic, Special B, and Caramel Munich malts to control your taste buds.  The aromatics of Chinook hops blend perfectly with these malts, creating an intense combination of confusion and satisfaction at the same time.  After your first sip, if you're thinking "Whoa. That was interesting, intense, & delicious!" you know you brewed it right!

  • Makes 5 gallons
  • Estimated Original Gravity: 1.066-70
  • SRM (Color Range): 16-18
  • IBUs: 68-72
  • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 7.1%

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”.  For more info, click on the recommended yeast(s) below in the “You Might Also Need” section below. All grains will come milled, unless you select unmilled base malts.

Two tries to get it right
This was the kit I used for for my first all grain attempt and I ended up using too much sparge water. It didn't taste like it was supposed to, but was still a drinkable beer. My second attempt was much better and tasted very close to the real deal.

Keeper
Great taste, great finish - Hit all the numbers and enjoyed more than AB (might be biased). Definitely a keeper!

If you like Arrogant Bastard Ale you will like this recipe
Absolutely excellent recipe this is really really close to Arrogant Bastard Ale my reviews from people have been better than Arrogant Bastard ale being almost identical without the harsh aftertaste of the commercial variant this one right here is pretty potent this is a strong beer right here but also pretty easy drinker. More beer clone recipes are on hit everything that I've gotten has been very very close to the real deal people should be paying for these recipes thank you to the people at more beer the awesome customer service great prices great quality malt this is the store right here man I love you guys this coming from a 40 year old man who's been going here before he was old enough to buy alcohol I hope one day I'll become professional Brewer just so I can give thanks to more beer because you guys really got me started on all of this also the Chinook variety of Hop in this beer I really like it it's became one of my favorite hops I kind of described it as a Cascade on steroids great hops personally I always recommend white labs yeast I used 001 was also kind of curious to try the same recipe with 051 I think would probably be really good too

First taste
Racked to a keg today. Good malt nose. The Special B really shines through with a smokey caramel flavor. Nice clean hop finish. Can't wait for carbonation to complete. OG came in on the high side of estimated (1.070), FG finished at 1.15 for a ABV of 7.22%. Color is spot on at 15-16 SRM.

Love It !
Not a big fan of brewing kits, but this all grain kit is as advertised ! I love it. I don't like to take time brewing unless I'm getting a worth while ABV. (above 1.060) I achieved 1.074 O.G on this kit. I did add 1/2 gal. of water in primary to lower the O.G. some All I can say is I will be brewing this again ! Well worth the price. For the yeast I used US 05

Tasty specialty grains
First thing I noticed was that the crush was consistent and had not much flour/dust, and the hulls were intact. This made for a smooth and uneventful sparge, and decent efficiency. I wish all kits were at least this good.

One "mistake" I made was wringing out the specialty grain bags after the steep. This got a lot of flavor out of them, and perhaps that was too much. Granted, it's a nice toasty caramel flavor, but with my habit being to oversparge and boil down for maximum extraction, and this (higher initial boil gravity) resulting in slightly diminished hop bitterness utilization, the malts actually overpowered the hopping.

Don't get me wrong; I'm very pleased with the results and look forward to sharing it with friends. I will say that what I got doesn't seem like an Arrogant Bastard clone. Just don't do what I do, and your results will be closer to what the kit designers intended.
